Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026
Effective date: August 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Upfront Investment, Inc. ("Upfront Investment," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use:

  • our website at https://www.upfrontinvestment.com;
  • our iOS and Android mobile applications, which load the same service in a native WebView; and
  • related emails, support, and payment flows.

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. For questions, contact us at contact@upfrontinvestment.com.

1. Who we are

Upfront Investment is a stock analysis and portfolio research service. We provide stock comparison tools, historical charts, an AI-driven portfolio model versus the S&P 500, and optional Premium research features such as 1-year outlooks and current-year portfolio data.

We are not a broker-dealer, trading platform, custodian, or registered investment adviser. We do not execute trades, hold customer funds, or provide personalized investment advice. Content is for general informational purposes only.

2. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: you provide it, we collect it automatically, and our processors collect it on our behalf.

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account data: email address, hashed password, email verification status, membership level, and optional profile photo (JPG or PNG).
  • Support data: name, email, subject, and message when you use the Contact form or email us.
  • Subscription data: plan selection, billing interval, trial usage, cancellation requests, and related account settings.
  • Payment-related identifiers: Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, invoice/payment IDs, amounts, and payment status. We do not store full card numbers, CVV codes, or bank account numbers. Those are handled by Stripe.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages and features viewed (for example, stock comparison or portfolio model), symbols you look up, timestamps, and referral URLs.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, language, and approximate timezone. Server logs may also include request URLs and error details.
  • Anonymous identifier: a locally stored identifier used to distinguish visitors who are not logged in, for analytics and diagnostics. It is stored in your browser's local storage and is not an advertising ID from Apple or Google.
  • Diagnostics: crash reports, performance traces, and sampled session replays used to find and fix bugs.

2.3 Information we do not collect

We do not request or require:

  • precise GPS location;
  • contacts, call logs, SMS, calendar, or photos from your device library except a profile photo you choose to upload;
  • microphone, camera, or biometric data as an app permission;
  • advertising IDs for third-party ads (we do not show third-party advertising in the Service);
  • government ID, Social Security number, or tax ID.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create and authenticate accounts, verify email, and reset passwords;
  • provide stock comparison, charts, portfolio model, and Premium features;
  • process subscriptions, invoices, trials, and cancellations;
  • respond to support requests and send service emails (verification, password reset, billing notices);
  • maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug errors;
  • understand how the Service is used so we can improve it;
  • comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Cookies, storage, and similar technologies

We use:

  • Essential cookies: a session cookie (including upfront_session) to keep you logged in and to protect forms with CSRF tokens. These are required for the Service to work.
  • Local / session storage: to remember UI choices such as recently compared symbols and an anonymous visitor ID.
  • Analytics and diagnostics cookies / scripts: Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Sentry may set cookies or similar identifiers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, login and payments may not work. Mobile WebView apps use the same cookies and storage as the website.

5. How we share information

We share information with service providers who process it on our instructions, and in limited other cases:

Recipient Purpose Typical data
Stripe Payment processing and subscription billing Email, customer/subscription IDs, payment method tokens, amounts, billing status
Google Analytics Usage analytics Device/usage data, membership category, anonymous or account identifiers
Microsoft Clarity Product analytics and session recordings Page interactions, device data, anonymous or account identifiers
Sentry Crash reporting, performance monitoring, and sampled session replay Error logs, device data, user ID, and email if you are logged in
Hosting and database providers (including Heroku / PostgreSQL) Operate and store the Service Account, usage, and application data
Email delivery provider (SMTP) Verification, password reset, invoices, and support mail Email address and message content
Market data providers (including Financial Modeling Prep and Finnhub) Stock prices, fundamentals, and related market data Ticker symbols and technical request data; not used to identify you to those providers

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or similar corporate transaction.

We do not share data with third-party advertisers for their own marketing.

6. Mobile apps

Our iOS and Android apps are containers that display the Upfront Investment website. They collect the same categories of information as the website. The apps:

  • need network access to load the Service;
  • do not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, or tracking (ATT) permissions;
  • may allow you to pick a photo from your device if you choose to upload a profile picture;
  • process payments through the website billing flow (Stripe), not through a separate in-app advertising SDK.

This Policy is the privacy policy for both the website and the mobile apps. Google Play and the App Store listings link to this page.

7. Payments

Premium subscriptions are billed by Stripe. Stripe's use of your payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. We receive confirmation of payment, subscription status, and invoice metadata so we can unlock Premium features and issue receipts.

8. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above:

  • Account data: while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for security, billing, or legal records.
  • Payment and invoice records: as required for tax, accounting, and dispute handling.
  • Support messages: as needed to resolve your request and improve support.
  • Logs, analytics, and crash reports: for a limited operational period, then deleted or aggregated.

If you request deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data unless we must retain it for legal or legitimate business reasons (for example, completed transactions).

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, including:

  • HTTPS in production;
  • hashed passwords;
  • HttpOnly session cookies;
  • access controls on production systems.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a unique password and keep your login details confidential.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing.

  • Account settings: you can update your email, password, and profile photo while logged in.
  • Marketing: we send transactional emails required to operate the account. We do not run a separate advertising newsletter from this Service.
  • Cookies / analytics: you can block cookies in your browser or use platform privacy controls on your device.
  • Access or deletion: email contact@upfrontinvestment.com from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.

If you are a California resident, you may request to know, delete, or correct personal information, and you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact contact@upfrontinvestment.com and we will delete it.

12. International transfers

We and several of our processors are located in the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
